It was Adam’s sin that caused the blight of death to come upon the human race.Īdam’s descendants therefore could never inherit from him, something that he did not possess, for sin had taken the place of righteousness which he once possessed. This is the characteristic of sin it is not the character of God. Sin therefore became his nature, and as such, his posterity would receive the same nature. The problem with sin is that it has the characteristics of a disease its nature is to spread and increase, and when Adam was found in transgression he became a law unto himself the consequences of which were that he became a slave to sin. “Sin is transgression of the law” 1 John 3:4, and it was because of sin that Jesus was given to us. Jesus Himself tells us in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
